Brief Profile
A Lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, Philomena hails from Afashio, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo state by birth, and Etche, Rivers State by marriage. A multi-lingual woman who speaks English, Yoruba, Hausa and Afemai and understands Igbo, had her Bachelor’s Degree from the Department of Dramatic Arts, and Master’s Degree from the Department of English (Literature), all at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She worked in different and sensitive units of the University as a non-teaching staff for several years. She was a lead role contributor to the transformation of the University Senate procedures to e-Senate. Okoroafor Philomena later converted to the academic string of the university as a Lecturer in the Department of Dramatic Arts in 2019. Recently, she acted in Adventures in the Forest of a Thousand Demons and The Gods have Spoken, staged for the 2022 and 2023 convocation plays respectively. She is currently on her PhD programme at the Obafemi Awolowo University. Her research interests are in the areas of African Dramatic literature, Children’s Theatre, Acting, and Community Theatre.
